History

Options for Women is an interdenominational, faith-based, not-for-profit organization committed to serving women and families facing unexpected pregnancies. Our vision is to see life valued and families strengthened.

Our Story

Planning started around May of 2012, by a core group of interested individuals that expanded over time.  We incorporated as a non-profit organization and received 501c3 status shortly thereafter.

This group partnered with SEMO LifeSavers and the Crisis Pregnancy Center. A formal ribbon cutting and grand opening was held in late May 2014 and within that week, the first baby was saved.

The original board of directors felt it was important to have two parts to this ministry-Options for Women, the pro-life part, serving and supporting pregnant women and encouraging the choice of life, as well as Help for Families, the pro-family part, helping families with needs in the community.

We began with one “Earn While You Learn Parenting” class and have grown to 16 different classes, including one Division of Family Services class for clients who are mandated to take a parenting class before regaining custody of their children.

We are a member of the SE MO Food Bank serving as a food pantry to our clients and community members in need.

In early 2022, a biblically based post-abortion ministry, Releasing Grace, was developed with volunteers of Birthright, and in September 2024, we held a one-day biblically based retreat, Weathering the Storm, for women who’ve experienced miscarriage and/or infant loss.
